:: malware protection software
Over the years I have used four virus protection software products. Norton Anti-Virus, MacAfee, AVG Anti-Virus and Trend Micro. Honestly, they are all pretty good. If you want free virus protection for your personal computer, then use AVG Anti-Virus, but that won’t help you if you are trying to protect a network of computers.
Over all, in my experience, it is a toss up between Trend Micro and Norton Anti-Virus. MacAfee just never measured up to them in my experience. We use Trend Micro at United Way and in the 18 months I have been there, we have not had any virus issues. However, I used Norton elsewhere with the same results. Likely you will do well with both.
These software products come with modules that protect your systems from worms, tojans, spyware, and browser hijackers, but I have found on occasion that it is good to have separate software for these types of malware.
Two applications I have used are Ad-Aware and SpyBot. Both have free versions you can download to each of your computers. I would try Ad Aware first and only use Spy Bot as well if you are having problems with spyware on your computer.
